Again.. you people seem to have problems with logic and reason. This is not MARKET SHARE.. realize that. It's just one time sales over the holidays and the numbers are not even complete as many of the Android makers don't even reveal numbers (like Samsung), not to mention that this is only US as well.
Stop hyperventilating and having false hopes. iPhone will NEVER be any bigger than it is now, it will only get smaller.
And that "tons of different devices" is called diversity and openness and is actually pro-consumer thing of a platform and fosters innovation and competition and THAT'S WHY Android is killing iOS. Only a narrowminded individual can say that iOS is a great platform and good for consumers when you have only one phone to buy and rebuy over and over again and hide behind the retarded lock in, single device business model as some kind of justification for any failure to increase marketshare.
And also, change the title because it's really not correct and can be construed as trolling.
Somehow you think I disagree, WTH did you get that info. And all the iOS words in your post can be switched with Android, Android is just as locked in as iOS.
No tons of devices is not called diversity, it's still the same Closed Android platform. If it was open then it would work regardless of mobile OS, and so far NONE are open. You can only go from one android device to another, same with one iOS Device to another iOS device. That's not called diversity, it's called CLOSED. If you buy a tech device you can plug it into any wall outlet, not limited to plugging it into a wall outlet in a certain city.
And I know that is just for a holiday sales, but I think Android DOES have higher total market share, and I said DOES because you can't read properly thinking I'm Pro iOS some how. How you get that I have no idea, oh yea I own an iOS device somehow makes me a cult member, but when I got my iOS device, it was the ONLY option, as HP Cancled their origional TouchPad.
So Don't jump on the Down the your an iOS fanboy bull**** with me, I'm a Fan of Both, and I know that BOTH have shortcomings and BOTH are just as locked as the other. YOUR the one that is to narrowminded to realize that
*edit - and I will say that iOS is good for the consumer,, why, because Android is complicated, and the Average consumer is an idiot, simplification is good. If I get a device I want to open the box and go to town, not dig through a bunch of crap wondering that if the app my friend has will work on a Random Android Tablet, and THEN if the tablet is running ICS or previous version as there still are tons of devices shipped that are not even close to the recent Android OS. Is that the fault of Android, No, is that the fault of the Consumer, NO, is that the fault of APPLE, No
